Viking Tattoo Designs

Vikings have always been very popular because of their artwork and reputation for being tough explorers of seas. Though they left few written records, it is their art that tells us about their culture and the way that they lived. Viking tattoo designs are still very prominent today. Vikings were Scandinavian (Norse) jacks of trades, working as warriors, explorers, merchants and pirates. They raided and colonized a number of places in Europe from the 8^th to the 11^th century.  The Viking Age was a major part of the medieval history of Scandinavia, the British Isles and the whole of Europe.
The Vikings had a number of different symbols but because of their lack of written documents the meanings behind many of these symbols are lost, but that doesn’t detract from their popularity. These symbols include intricate knot works, swastikas and triskeles.
