 As spiders were one of the first types of creatures to inhabit this Earth (especially the Huntsman spiders), they would have been around to scare plenty of our own ancestors in the past.

There does not seem to be anything in between with spiders – people either love them or absolutely hate and fear them. These mainly innocuous creatures invoke extremely strong emotions in human beings and this is something that seems to be instinctively recorded within our genes.
